MIL-DTL — military detail specifications

| MIL-DTL-5541 | Chemical Conversion Coatings on Aluminum | Class 1A and Class 3 chromate conversion coatings (alodine / iridite). Class 3 has lower electrical resistance than Class 1A. |
| MIL-DTL-13924 | Black Oxide on Steel | Black oxide finish for steel — corrosion protection plus low reflectance. |
| MIL-DTL-16232 | Phosphate Coating, Heavy, Manganese or Zinc Base | Heavy manganese / zinc phosphate conversion coating for steel. Rev G supersedes DOD-P-16232F. |
| MIL-DTL-26074 | Electroless Nickel Plating on Metal Surfaces (cancelled) | Cancelled; still seen as a legacy callout on older drawings. General users were moved to AMS-C-26074, itself cancelled in favor of AMS 2404 — call out AMS 2404 for general electroless nickel work. Naval nuclear propulsion users were directed to MIL-DTL-32119. |
| MIL-DTL-32119 | Coatings, Electroless Nickel, Special Applications | Electroless nickel for Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program applications — distribution-controlled (NAVSEA). Replaced MIL-DTL-26074 for those users only; general work calls out AMS 2404. |
