Engineering library

Manufacturing processes.

Compare process families before selecting a production route. This library describes general methods; it does not imply that Digital Machine offers every process in-house.

Machining

Milling, turning, grinding and EDM remove material to establish geometry. Tool access, workholding, material condition and inspection govern feasible tolerances.

Finishing

Anodizing, plating, passivation and coating processes affect dimensions, corrosion resistance and surface properties. Specify the governing process, masking and inspection requirements.

Heat treatment

Hardening, aging, annealing and stress relief alter material properties and can distort geometry. Plan stock allowances and the inspection sequence with a qualified processor.

Casting and forging

Near-net blanks can reduce stock removal at production volume. Tooling cost, material integrity, draft and machining allowances require early review.

Sheet metal

Bending, punching and cutting suit thin-wall parts. Bend radius, material condition, springback and tooling affect the developed blank.

Additive and molding

Complex internal geometry or high-volume polymer parts may favor these processes. Critical interfaces can still require finish machining and independent inspection.
